Alarms & troubleshooting

ALM-26529 (RF Unit VSWR Threshold Crossed)
ALM LED solid red, RUN LED solid green or blinking at 1Hz
Loose RF jumper connection, water ingress in DIN/4.3-10 coaxial connectors, damaged feeder cable, antenna impedance mismatch, or damaged surge arrestor.
1. Check RF jumper connections on the RRU and antenna ports; verify torque tightening (25 N·m for 7/16 DIN, 5 N·m for 4.3-10). 2. Inspect waterproofing tape/cold-shrink tubing for damage or moisture ingress. 3. Use an antenna and feeder tester (Site Master) to measure Return Loss and DTF (Distance to Fault) to identify the damaged cable section. 4. Replace damaged RF jumpers, lightning surge arrestors, or antenna components.
ALM-26522 (CPRI Interface Optical Link Abnormal)
CPRI0/CPRI1 LED solid red or OFF, ALM LED blinking red at 0.5Hz
Damaged/bent armored fiber cable, contaminated optical fiber end-face, abnormal optical RX/TX power (excessive attenuation or SFP degradation), faulty BBU optical port, or CPRI rate mismatch.
1. Check the CPRI port optical RX power on the NMS (normal range: -15 dBm to -3 dBm) and monitor CPRI frame errors. 2. Clean the LC fiber connectors and SFP transceiver optical bores using a specialized fiber cleaning tool. 3. Measure optical attenuation using an optical power meter; replace the patch cord if attenuation exceeds 3 dB. 4. Swap the SFP module with a known good one of identical wavelength/rate to isolate the faulty module.
ALM-26532 (RF Unit DC Input Power Abnormal)
RUN LED OFF, ALM LED solid red, or PWR LED OFF
Power cabinet circuit breaker tripped, power cable undersized causing excessive voltage drop (below -36V DC under high load), loose or oxidized DC connector pins, or damaged DC lightning protection board.
1. Measure the DC voltage at the RRU power input connector using a digital multimeter (normal operating range: -36V DC to -57V DC). 2. Inspect the easy-power DC terminal on the RRU for loose screw terminals, carbonization, or water intrusion. 3. Check the upstream DC distribution unit (DCDU/PDF) breaker status and verify cable connections are firmly torqued. 4. If the input voltage is nominal (approx. -48V DC) but the RRU fails to power on, replace the internal surge protection board or the RRU.
ALM-26534 (RF Unit Over-Temperature)
ALM LED solid red, RUN LED blinking slowly at 0.5Hz
Natural cooling fins clogged by debris/dust/nests, clearance around RRU violating the minimum 300mm standard, ambient temperature exceeding +55°C, missing solar shield, or PA bias thermal runaway.
1. Clear accumulated dirt, nests, or debris from the RRU heatsink fins to maintain unobstructed natural convection. 2. Verify installation clearances (minimum 300mm left/right and 500mm top/bottom) and verify no external exhaust blows hot air onto the unit. 3. Install a standard solar shield if the RRU is exposed to direct intense sunlight in tropical environments. 4. If ambient and thermal pathways are normal but temperature registers above threshold, replace the RRU.
ALM-26521 (RF Unit Hardware Fault / PA Malfunction)
ALM LED solid red, RUN LED OFF or alternating red/green
Internal intermediate frequency (IF) circuit failure, Power Amplifier (PA) module breakdown, TRX local oscillator unlock, duplexer failure, or internal microcontroller watchdog crash.
1. Perform a remote software reset of the RRU via the NMS; if unresolved, perform a site cold reboot by cycling DC power. 2. Collect diagnostic logs and examine alarm specific problem parameters to identify the faulted TRX/PA channel. 3. Verify that the protective earthing (PE) cable is intact and grounding resistance is below 10 ohms to prevent transient surges. 4. If the alarm persists after the hard reboot and software verification, replace the RRU3230E unit.
